Static IP for Trading & Algo Trading in India (2026 Guide)
Static IP for trading and static IP for algo trading in India — why Zerodha, Dhan and Angel One require whitelisted dedicated IPs, and how algo trading static IP keeps bots running 24×7.
The problem: your home internet changes its IP every day
Most Indian broadband and 4G/5G connections use dynamic IP addresses. Every time your router restarts — or sometimes every few hours — your public IP changes. For normal browsing this is invisible. For algorithmic trading it is fatal, because SEBI-registered brokers now validate the origin IP of every API request.
If your IP changes mid-session, your broker rejects your orders with errors like "IP not whitelisted", your access token gets invalidated, and your strategy silently stops trading. Traders often discover this only after missing an exit — an expensive way to learn about networking.
What is a static IP?
A static IP is a fixed public IPv4 or IPv6 address that never changes. When you route your trading bot's traffic through a dedicated static IP, the broker always sees the same address — the one you registered in their API portal. Your session stays valid, your orders flow, and your algo runs unattended.
Why brokers enforce IP whitelisting
- Security — a leaked API key is useless to an attacker whose requests come from a different IP.
- SEBI's algo trading framework pushes brokers to identify and audit the origin of automated orders.
- Rate-limit and abuse control — brokers can attribute traffic to a specific registered endpoint.
Why the IP must be Indian
Several Indian brokers reject or flag API traffic originating from foreign IP ranges. A Mumbai-datacenter IP keeps latency to the exchanges (NSE/BSE colocation region) in single-digit milliseconds and avoids geo-blocks entirely. A US or Singapore VPS IP often adds 40–150 ms and can trip broker-side geo checks.
Datacenter static IP vs static IP from your ISP
You can request a static IP from Airtel or Jio, but it usually costs ₹500–₹2,000/month, is tied to one physical location, and still goes down when your power or fibre does. A datacenter static IP with proxy credentials works from anywhere — your laptop, office, or cloud VPS — and sits on redundant power and bandwidth.
"Daily IP" vs dedicated static IP — common search confusion
Traders sometimes search "daily IP" when they need a fixed address for daily algo sessions. Home broadband gives a daily-changing dynamic IP — the opposite of what brokers require. Static ip for trading and algo trading static ip both mean one permanent whitelisted address, not an IP that changes every day.
How Algo-IP works
- You get a dedicated static Indian IP (IPv4 or IPv6) from our Mumbai datacenter pool.
- You whitelist that IP in your broker's API portal (Zerodha Kite, Angel One SmartAPI, Fyers, Dhan, mStock and more).
- Your bot connects through HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy credentials — every request exits from your fixed IP, 24×7.
Plans start at ₹99/month for IPv6 and ₹200/month for IPv4. The IP is exclusively yours — never shared, never rotated.
